Because it’s his birthday, and it’s nearing Valentine’s season (it’s related because it has a heart on it!), I present to you a card that I made for my dad last year.
The color is not nearly that color in the original. It’s far more subdued. Think: light rose. Probably a color management issue or something Tumblr does to photos. Also, I didn’t print it with the background color either.
Happy Birthday, Sir.

I made this card a few months ago for my (now) sister-in-law, Nicole. As a male, I wouldn’t be attending, but I wanted to leave my mark somehow. Generally, we like making cards for people and I wanted to do something different. We almost always use Watercolor cards from (I’m guessing here) Strathmore, but recently switched to Fabriano.
This card features a wooly mammoth and the text:

It’s shower time; you bring the soap, I’ll bring the loofah!

I really like this card, though, and would totally make more. I’d just have to adjust the mammoth graphic so it fit on the front side and wasn’t cut off. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so it bothers me that part of the tusks are cut off by the fold.
You can probably expect cards similar to this in our Etsy shop, sometime, in addition to our hand-pressed linocut prints.
Until next time,
Dennis
